Why Native Rollups? 🧵(1/5)
Security
• For EVM equivalent - Don’t need to worry about bugs, automatically updates with L1 hard forks
• No concerns regarding proving bugs, you get proving from L1 nodes. If there is an exploit in prover, L1 hard forks
• Multi Prover - you automatically inherit multi proving (multiple ZK proofs) for Stage 2
• Note, Stage 2 still requires 30day exit window, no instant upgrades.
Ease
• Any dapp can be deployed onto Native shards without any modifications at all (don't have to worry of difference between rollups or to L1)
• Easy to launch a decentralized Native rollup (assuming based sequencing) - Low case is about 100 lines contract with single tx call
• This also reduces legal risk if decentralized

“There are many problems today with ZK.”
We invited @donnoh_eth (Researcher at @l2beat) to present at our Berlin Ethproofs Summit to give a contrarian perspective on ZK - and that's exactly what we got.
Some key takeaways:
• Verifiers are opaque. Smart contracts can be inspected, but once you hit a ZK verifier you’re looking at random numbers - and without reproducing the verifier from source, you can’t know what’s really being proven.
• Reproducibility is hard. Many projects don’t publish the exact commit hashes or tooling versions needed to regenerate their verifiers. In some cases, it’s practically impossible to confirm what’s running on-chain.
• Custom tooling adds risk. Each project builds its own stack, making verification complex and inconsistent across the ecosystem.
• Audits aren’t enough. Audits can be partial, outdated, or miss fixes. Simply claiming “fully audited” is misleading without transparent links and scope.
Luca’s core point: ZK doesn’t necessarily eliminate trust. Instead, it shifts it - and the challenge is minimizing and clarifying where that trust lies.

Monero is getting 51% attacked. Devs might need to change the proof of work algorithm away from RandomX. It was designed to be CPU friendly and GPU resistant by simulating a VM with a lot of branching logic, which doesn’t work well on GPUs. I wonder where the CPUs are coming from

The design space of Ethereum rollups is huge. I am not going to deny that assessing @0xFacet was challenging for the whole team as its design is not what you would expect from a typical rollup.
Nevertheless we love being challenged and as a result some new dashboards related to canonical and externally-bridged assets are in the works.
The most challenging aspect of @0xFacet is undoubtedly its non-standard gas token. It's use challenges the core definition of a "canonical" asset as normally we assume that gas token must be bridged canonically but what if you don't really "bridge" gas token at all ? What is a canonical asset and canonical bridge then ?

I’m in Turkey, Izmir. They are telling my lawyer that I helped people to misuse @ethereum and I might have a charge. You can imagine what it means. It’s obviously wrong, we are just infra builders.
I can’t say much because I don’t have information and I don’t know if I will still be able to talk with others. Please talk with @pabloeperello, @rj_aligned or @fran_aligned.

wow!! happy to see more ratings in the space

Hasu⚡️🤖Aug 8, 16:47
Today, @SkyEcosystem and its decentralized stablecoin USDS got a B- rating from S&P (@SPGlobal ) - the first time they rated any stablecoin issuer, centralized or decentralized.
Some people are getting hung up on the B- because its not investment-grade yet when compared to established Tradfi issuances - that would be a big mistake.
Any crypto stablecoin/smart contract system is expected to get a more conservative rating, because Defi carries unique technological and regulatory risks. The rating is very fair and there is now a clear and surprisingly accurate framework to improving it over time.
This rating is a milestone for all Defi because it proves that decentralized protocols can meet the standards of major ratings agencies, paving the way for an adoption of crypto assets + issuers by existing Tradfi organizations.
