The more someone says "I am being rational here" the more they are possessed by feelings they simply can't recognize because they've been so alienated from feeling them. Tech is full of such people. Who can't truly bask in the pleasure of a win or feel anxious even when 999 out of 1000 people would be like "holy shit look at what you have." They think they're talking facts when they are actually spewing toxic vibes. This happens because these people have built superior defenses against rejection and failure. This armor appears to dull the pain of loss, which enables them to go into grueling battles day after day. Alas it is the very same armor that makes it hard for joy and gratitude to penetrate. And to see what is really driving their behavior underneath. Feelings don't just go away. They burrow deep until some day, years later, they make themselves known in one way or another. Something inexplicable and utterly shocking happens. It's just a matter of time.
