A cryptocurrency holder and their family were victims of an attack at their home in La Rochelle (France) aimed at stealing their assets.
The assailants, who numbered four, managed to transfer around 10 million dollars in crypto.
This is to date one of the largest sums stolen in cryptocurrencies on French soil.
The victims are safe as we speak, but incidents of violence were reported.
An investigation is currently underway to trace the flows on the blockchain and to find the perpetrators.
The attackers knew the wallet addresses and the amounts that were deposited on them.
They allegedly obtained the data after a data leak, according to what they told the victims at the time of the hostage-taking.
