Jews do not agree that Christ is King but they agree that God is King and on Rosh Hashanah, a holiday starting Monday evening, they celebrate God's Kingship. I think it is fitting that Christians and Jews, each in their own way, are having a special religious moment now, together mourning and honouring, celebrating and worshipping, hoping and praying . May they all - may you all - have a good and sweet year of mercy, and justice. This is not a post meant to spark a theological debate between or among Christians and Jews. It is just my way of observing the overlap in time of the event for Charlie Kirk, with its strong religious spirit, and the start of Rosh Hashanah. Today's event has been called a religious awakening, and a significant action on Rosh Hashanah is the sounding of the shofar or ram's horn, often interpreted as a spiritual wake-up call. Most of all it is the expression of a hope that Christians and Jews can fight together for what is good in America, and not fight each other.
